I've been dreadfully busy since school has started. I'm trying to get the hang of this new curriculum we're using but it's taking up more of our day than what we used last year. Thankfully I think we're getting into a groove. Last year I really struggled with what to do with Tommi while I was trying to teach. She would climb all over me, the table, the other kids and then she would scream, or color on the walls, you get the picture. It was very frustrating. This year I feel really blessed to be using Abeka curriculum. It's very anal, I mean detailed...like me. But I really have to focus on one person at a time. So while I'm teaching one kid the other has "Tommi Time." They get to play with her, read to her, teach her and bond in general. It's working out well so far. I'll keep you posted.

Mmmm, cake!
___________________________________
I'm making two cakes for a baby/family shower on Monday. It's for a family in our town that lost their home and everything they owned in a fire that swept through their neighborhood a couple of weeks ago. Between the two cakes they have to feed 100 to 150 people so they're quite large. This isn't that big of a deal except that it takes me so long to bake and decorate a cake. The whole process takes me several days. So I'm trying not to get overwhelmed with it. Tonight I started working on one of them (the other is half done) that has 4 tiers to it. I had the top tier and bottom tiers sitting on the cooling rack in the kitchen. As I was getting the icing ready I realized that I wasn't sure of the color to make it so I ran in here to check. Amazingly I didn't get sidetracked with any other emails or blogs or things of that nature and I was back out to the kitchen fairly quickly. To my shock I came out to find Tommi standing in the living room with her hands full of cake shoveling it into her mouth. I screamed. But, I didn't cry though. Thankfully it was only the small cake that she evened out for me. (She's such a good helper!) You didn't detect any sarcasm there, did you? Good.
While we're on the subject, look what happened when she found some icing in the pantry when I wasn't looking.
There was a trail that went under the desk (probably hoping she could hide under there and not get caught. It worked.)
Down the wall...
Please lie to me and tell me you don't even notice my messy craft desk in the background.
Thank you. I feel much better.

That is so funny!! It explains the sprinkles under the chair today. It probably makes it hard that she is so cute with icing all over her face.
oh my! Pink is a good color for her, though.
