i've been assured that this is normal boy behavior and not to be too alarmed. apparently boys have a tendency (at least more than girls) to be enthralled with talking about their private parts(not to mention bodily functions). i was not fully aware of this phenomenom since i am of the female kind and only have one son among two daughters. my friend with soon-to-be 6 boys did assure me, however, that this is quite normal.
tonight tommi and g jr were playing, which normally i cherish. but i could hear her singing and had to come intervene. he obviously wasn't being a very good example. she was singing about her bum and and then about her wiener.
okay t, keep a straight face!
i explained to tommi that it is not appropriate to be singing about our private parts, all while giving "you're guilty" looks to g jr. i also had to explain that she didn't exactly have a wiener.
"i not have a wiener?"
don't lose it.
"no honey, you don't."
"(g jr) have a wiener?"
"uh...no smiling...yes, he does."
"do you have a wiener?"
do.not.laugh. it'll undermine everything you're trying to tell this child.
"no, mommy doesn't have a wiener. just stop singing about it, okay??"
