ready for Christmas

last night kmac was sitting at the counter writing on some notebook paper. when i inquired as to what she was authoring she simply replied that it was her Christmas list. slightly saddened i left her to her writing.

over the years g sr and i have really tried to encourage our kids to not focus on all of the "what presents am i going to get" aspects of this marvelous holiday. this year especially we feel they're old enough (at least g jr and kmac) to understand. so i was a little taken aback to hear that kmac was making a list of wishes.

that's my own fault. i underestimated her. she was making a list of what she wants to give.

later she asked if there was any work she could do around the house to earn money for these gifts she has planned to give.

i sit here smiling as my kids even now are coming in to ask if they can work on such-and-such a gift they want to give to so-and-so.

now i'm ready for Christmas...

that is really very sweet. I am not surprised... you have incredibly sweet kids. I love them...

I know that's one thing I appreciate about Genny. We encourage her every year to make a wish list of 10 items. The items, however, have to include all sorts of wishes. The idea, for me, is inspiring imagination and fun. (plus it helps give idea to the grandparents). Her list this year was:
- sour skittles
- clothes for my american girl dolls
- nintendo games
- to go to fondue with my family.
- to go to disneyland before I am 12.
- for the days to go quick until Amanda is here.
- for more art projects to make for presents.
- socks
- books
- a happy Christmas... :)

I love that she can think about herself and others. She told me today that she was going to ask santa (no she doesn't believe in him, it's just something for fun) for the days amanda is home to go slow. I told her that was sweet and she said "I ask Jesus for that every night."
