Handmade Christmas

Oh boy I feel like I'm getting a late start this year. I've been pouring over the computer today for ideas for starting some handmade Christmas gifts. Every year I say I'm going to buy less and make more. But what I say and what I do sometimes look like apples and, uh, spaghetti. So. I resolve this year to start bustin' my buns. My kids will be busting their buns also. Poor little souls won't even know what hit them.

Actually they'll love it. My little guy recently told me for school that he thought it would be appropriate if we only did crafts. All.Day.Long. Sorry kiddo. Not happenin'.

This is a rough list of ideas I came across and jotted down. I might even have some links for you!
Rubic's cube
coasters
picture puzzle
refrigerator magnets
granola
goody baskets/plates (with cookies, fudge, candies, whatever the kids and I get made)
stationary sets
personalized mirrors
calendar
secret hollow book
clock
message board

crayons

I also found this great site. This place had some ideas, including a sock monkey! I just found this saved in my favorites from last year.

Here and here is some stuff I actually managed to finish last year.

Well, now I am totally stoked. I've got like 5 things to make for every single person on my 'nice' list...only like 2 things for the people on my 'naughty' list. And you know who you are, people. And it's too late to butter up to me now!

I will keep searching for ideas and maybe even share them with you if I get such a hankering. For now I shall retire to a deep slumber where I will dream beautiful dreams of how I get this all done and it all turns out perfectly (cuz that's how I like to do things, that's why!) and I don't break down in Michaels when I realize how much I just spent and how little time I have to throw it all together. Ahhh, sweet dreams.

you are funny!

A warning about the books though. (we did these last year, and filled them with homemade note cards)BEYOND time consuming... Not hard, just really time consuming. Also, I am going to email you another project we are doing this year that I think is adorable... It seems like something you'd like.

I cannot believe you are going to MAKE Christmas presents. I feel overwhelmed just thinking about doing cards. And I'm not even making them this year!!!!! Just saying, "Love, the Sturgeons" & mailing them. I will come visit you in the looney bin.
