For several years now I have been receiving mail from the AARP, retirement communities, hearing aid businesses and places like that.
And I have been accused, on occasion, of dressing like an old lady. Although I am trying to get over that fashion faux pas.
Today, though, today just about put me over the edge. After church service I was standing in the aisle talking with a friend that I'll call...um...Brian. Now Brian was just jabbering away and didn't notice there was an elderly gentleman coming up behind him and needed to get past him. So, me, being the kind, thoughtful, polite person that I am (I'll prove it in a moment), I told Brian to step forward to give the man enough room to get past (or is it passed?).
It all went downhill from there.
The man then says to Brian something to the effect of, "Your mom sure taught you good manners," and gave a smile and friendly tap on the shoulder.
He was talking about ME! Being Brian's mom!
I think it might be helpful at this point to inform you that Brian is only 5 years younger than me!
*Sigh* I guess that's what I get for being the kind, thoughtful, polite person that I am. I am officially an OLD lady. And my ever loving husband and Brian almost peed themselves laughing at my expense, while I tried not to cry.
It also doesn't help my case any that 2 years ago while leaving a softball game I accidentally swallowed a fly. (If you don't understand the implication there then you don't read enough kid's books).
Signing off,
the OLD lady
