Farewell Jack...

Yesterday morning we started running an ad in our local paper online to find Jack a new home. I was prepared for this ad to run the full month or even longer.
Fast forward to last night. It was little Gman's first baseball practice, and that big hunk of a husband of mine is the coach. So they grabbed Kmac and headed over to the field early, while Tommi and I stayed behind to clean up dinner. We were going to come over when practice actually started. I was busy trying to get everything clean and the wee one ready to go when the phone rang. And that's how it all started...

"Hi, we saw your ad online for the Jack Russell Terrier..."

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten. Why were people calling so soon? I hadn't mentally prepared for this yet.
So I told this nice lady all about Jack. They wanted to see him. That night. So I rushed around frantically to find Jack's toys, leash, shots records, anything I could think of to make his transition easier. Just as Jack was yanking me out the door, my arms loaded, phone ringing, I realized Tommi hadn't gone potty. This could have been disasterous. There are no bathrooms at the baseball field. Everybody back inside. Okay, then back out the door. We made it to the practice. Jack was so excited to see so many boys and so many balls I think it almost short circuited his system. And then his mean old mommy (aka: me) wouldn't even let him play! That's down right torture right there. Mmm-hmm.
We made our way to over after practice to the place where we were to meet the nice lady. Her and her family were smitten with the little guy. We said our good-byes.
Bring on the crying kids. Kmac had the hardest time. And she was the one who liked him the least. Go figure. I just had some dirt in my eyes, that's the only reason for my tears. And so our little gloom-mobile started home. Half way there Superdad says, "Turn around. We need ice cream." With spirits lifting we head to Dairy Queen. Drive-thru was too long, we went inside. Once we all decided and placed our order, we realized that neither of us had our wallets. What!? How could we so totally botch our "it'll all be better with ice cream" attempt? We went home. Superdad came through though and ran to the convience store for all the fixins for milkshakes. I made popcorn. Then we all snuggled on the couch to watch a movie. Tommi fell asleep on my lap and daddy leaned over to whisper sweet nothings in her ear; like, "be good...obey your mama and dada...don't be naughty." Priceless.
So, Jack is gone. All is well today. Moose couldn't be happier.
Good bye Jack. (These pics were taken yesterday afternoon before he left)
